GST Council yesterday (10.11.2017) reduced the tax rate of wide range items from chewing gums/bubble gum  to paving blocks from 28 percent to 18 percent.

Now the 28 per cent slab which had 227 items under it, will now only have 50 items after this announcement.

Earlier the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was implemented from July 1 and the tax slaps ranging from 0 per cent, 5 per cent, 12 per cent, 18 per cent and 28 per cent

Finance minister Arun Jaitley fixed uniform 5% rate will be levied on all AC and non-AC restaurants, and added that the eateries will not get input tax credit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that “our decisions are people-inspired, people-friendly and people-centric. We are working tirelessly for India’s economic integration through GST”.
